Glenmorangie A Tale of Cake Limited Edition Single Malt Whisky

Glenmorangie began releasing its Limited Edition range in 2009 with Astar, followed by A Midwinter Night’s Dram, Cadboll Estate, A Tale of Cake and A Tale of Winter.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation, was musing on how some of his most joyful memories involved cake, which inspired him to make a whisky evoking those cake filled moments.
Glenmorangie’s A Tale of Cake was initially matured in bourbon casks, before being moved over to Tokaji Hungarian dessert wine casks to help develop those special cake notes.

Nose:    Sweet and creamy-fruity. Lots of yellow apples and pears, cantaloupe, tangerine, and some plum. Creamy vanilla, some almonds, and a bit of a floral note. Leafiness and a hint of oak.

Taste:    Light texture. Arrives somewhat quietly, with a slow build to brioche, honey, and almonds, followed by hints and pineapple and chalk. Very sweet in the middle, with birthday cake, orange crème, and a tiny hint of oak.

Finish:    Medium length. Lingering vanilla, minerality, and lemon and grapefruit peels.
